Brown Wins 2016 ‘Social Movement Studies’ Best Article Prize

Primary tabs

Kate Pride Brown, an assistant professor in the Ivan Allen College School of History and Sociology, is the winner of the 2016 Routledge Social Movement Studies Best Article Prize. Her article, titled “The Prospect of Activism: Discerning and Delimiting Imagined Possibility,” can be found here.

Judges noted that the article was “clearly doing something different — a genuinely new contribution to our understanding of social movements” because it “targeted subjectivity, not only in order to describe the key ideas and attitudes of movement participants but to locate those ideas and attitudes within a specific culture in which the subject movement was embedded.”
